Reference notes from a working print floor: the stocks we buy, the weights we keep on the shelf and what the certification on the label actually means. Written from our own delivery notes, not from a supplier brochure.

Most paper guides on printing websites are the same chart, copied from the same catalogue, listing weights nobody in that building has ever run. This section only covers material we handle: the sheet sizes we order, the grain direction we specify, the roll widths on the large format machines and the environmental marks that come printed on the wrapper.

A guide goes up when there is something first hand to say. There is no schedule, because a page written to fill a schedule ends up competing with our own product pages for the same searches, and then both of them lose.

The guides

Where can you print documents in London? The practical answer to the most asked question in printing: how to get a document printed in London at any hour, what to send, how long it takes and what happens to confidential files. Same day or next day printing – which do you actually need? Print takes about an hour; print plus courier about four. When same day is the right call, when overnight is the better one, and what each assumes about your file. Can you print confidential documents the same day? What actually happens to a sensitive file in our production: NDA before opening, two people with access, in-house printing, deletion after the job and a shredder for the waste. How do 24 hour printers handle overnight orders? The night shift is a working shift, not an answering machine. What happens to a file sent at 9pm, what we check before it goes on press, and how it reaches a 9am meeting. What DPI do you need for an A0 poster? A0 at 300 DPI would take a 139-megapixel file. Real numbers from our preflight engine: what a 24MP camera, an iPhone and a typical export actually give you at poster size. Foamex or Dibond – which board for outdoor signs? Both boards live on our floor, so this is not a catalogue comparison: weight, flatness, outdoor life and cost, and the one question that usually decides it. What file format is best for printing? PDF, with fonts embedded and 3mm of bleed. Why the other formats shift on press, what our preflight checks before printing, and the one-line rule that avoids nearly every delay. How do you prepare artwork for large format printing? 150 DPI at final size, 3mm of bleed, a PDF at 1:1 - and why the roll width matters. The set-up rules for A0 to A2 work, from the machines that print it. How much does printing cost in London? Actual starting prices from our price list rather than a call-us wall: flyers, postcards, folded cards, letterheads - what drives the number up or down, and what the quote assumes. The paper we actually hold Every stock we keep on the floor, with the weight, the sheet size, the grain direction and the certification. Not a chart copied from a supplier catalogue. Who can help with an urgent print job in London? The answer to the 11pm phone call: what counts as urgent, what can realistically be finished today or by 9am, how to start the job and what the only urgency-specific charge is. Where can you get a banner printed near you in London? Why the nearest shopfront is rarely the fastest banner: which banner type fits the job, what same day really allows, and how courier delivery makes every London postcode near. Where can you print at night in London? What is genuinely open at night, what happens to a file sent at midnight, when you can still collect in person and which jobs the night press is built for. Where can you get signs made near you in London? The catch in every sign near me search: shops sell, makers cut. Which material fits the job, what same day really covers and how boards reach the site before doors open. Who provides overnight printing and delivery for exhibitions in London? The exhibition deadline is unlike any other: the hall opens at a fixed hour. What the night press can produce for a stand, how it reaches ExCeL or Olympia before doors open, and what the artwork needs. Where can you get posters printed in London? The practical answer for a poster needed today: sizes from A3 to A0 and beyond, the four stocks we run, what same day really allows, and what the artwork needs before it hits the roll. Roll-up, pull-up or roller banner — what is the difference? Three names, one product - and the naming worry that starts half the phone calls. What actually differs is vinyl versus fabric: the honest trade-offs, plus the cassette rule every graphic has to respect. Who does same-day and overnight A0/A1 board printing in London? A1 and A0 boards are the most common urgent large-format job we take. What the night press can mount, which thickness to pick, and what the artwork needs. Where can you get roller banners printed same day or overnight in London? The cassette banner that has to stand up tomorrow: what same day really allows, what comes in the box, and the one design rule the cassette imposes. Where can you get A1 posters printed same day or overnight in London? A1 is the size that has to be readable across a room and sharp at arm's length. Stocks, mounting, what same day allows, and the resolution question answered with numbers. Where can you get exhibition stand printing done in London? Everything a stand needs printed in one building and delivered on one run: panels, headers, boards, banners and tablecloths, with the night press covering the day before. Who can supply and deliver exhibition stand graphics for installation in London? Written for the installer, not the marketing department: what arrives, in what state, at what hour, and what your team still has to do. Where can you get pop-up banners printed same day or overnight in London? Pop-up, roll-up, pull-up - the trade uses the names interchangeably. What you actually get, how fast, and the one rule the cassette imposes on the design. Where can you get pop-up stand printing in London? The complete display, not just the print: graphic, frame and bag. Which system suits an occasional event and which one survives a season of shows. Where can you get roll-up banners printed in London? The cassette banner ordered by its most common name: what is in the box, how quickly it can stand up, and where the regular delivery runs go. Where can you get banners printed in London? Every banner type in one place: PVC, mesh, fabric and cassette stands - what each material is actually for, and what the night press can finish by morning. Is VAT charged on printing in the UK? Most print carries 20 % VAT, but booklets, brochures and qualifying leaflets are zero-rated. Product by product, with the three traps that turn a leaflet into a 20 % job. How do you prepare a court bundle for printing? Send one PDF in final order, say whether it can print double-sided, and give the hearing date. Binding capacities, what to do at 500 pages, and how the bundle reaches the court.
