Roller banner hardware laid out: aluminium cassette base, two-piece support pole and a black padded carry bag
Cassette, pole and padded bag included. Nothing else to buy and nothing to assemble with tools.
Two matching roller banners with a purple and orange gradient design, standing side by side
Ordered as a pair and printed in one run — a gradient like this shows any mismatch instantly, so both drops come off the same press together.
Two white roller banners with a coloured geometric mark, web address and contact line at the base
Large flat areas of white are the other hard test — any banding or roller mark shows against a clean ground, so these run on calibrated profiles.
Three charity campaign roller banners standing in a row in an office foyer, each with a portrait and story text
A campaign set: photo treatment, type sizes and logo position hold across the row, so the banners read as one story.
Two black roller banners with a white logo, one standing in front of the other
Solid dark grounds are the hardest test of a roller print: the colour has to stay even from the cassette to the top rail.
Wide printed backdrop banner with an event title and repeated sponsor logos, on a roller stand
A 1500 mm stand used as a signature-ceremony backdrop. Sponsor logos at this width have to arrive as vector, or they soften where it matters most.

Artwork specifications

Bleed, safe margins, colour, resolution, file format
Artwork requirements for roller banners.
RequirementWhat we needWhy
Bleed5–10 mm on every edge
Safe marginText and logos 5 mm inside the trimThe artwork itself prints full bleed to the finished edge. It is only type and logos that need the clearance. Where you supply bleed, measure the 5 mm from the trim line, not from the edge of the bleed.
Colour modeCMYK, not RGBBright RGB blues and greens sit outside the CMYK gamut and print duller than they look on screen. Send Pantone references for brand colours.
Resolution at final size30 dpi at the finished size is enoughMeasured on the printed piece, not in the file. A file built at 1:10 and 300 dpi gives exactly that, and it is genuinely fine on something read from five metres. Vector and live type carry no resolution at all and scale without loss.
File formatPDF preferred — but send what you haveWe accept virtually any artwork format and check every file in-house before production. If anything needs adjusting we will tell you immediately, before we print.
FontsOutlinedOutlined removes any font substitution risk on an overnight job.
ImagesEmbedded in the PDFLinked images that did not travel with the file are a common cause of a job stalling.
TransparencySupported — no need to flattenFlattening by hand often causes the white boxes and colour shifts it was meant to avoid.

Extend the artwork below the finished height. The cassette hides none of your design — the whole graphic stays visible. But the bottom of the print wraps around the roller inside the base, and if there is nothing there to wrap, the white fixing tape shows above the base once the banner is up.

Add 20–50 mm below the finished height. For a 2000 mm banner, supply the artwork at 2020–2050 mm. Keep that strip clear of anything you need to read — it is there to be rolled under, not looked at.

Before you upload

  • Export a print-ready PDF, vector wherever possible
  • Convert fonts to outlines
  • Extend backgrounds into the bleed
  • Keep important content inside the safe margin
  • Check the resolution at the finished size, not in the file
  • Check the page size matches the finished size, or state the scale you built at

Send the file even where there is doubt about it. We check bleed, resolution, embedded fonts and page size before anything goes on press, and where a fix is small it is usually just done. A two-minute reply at 9pm is faster than a re-export at 7am.

What turns a same-day job into a next-day one is almost never the printing. It is a question that has to go back to you and sit unanswered — artwork built at the wrong finished size, a logo supplied at screen resolution, or type running off the trim with no bleed behind it. Getting the six points above right removes nearly every one of those.

Inside the roller cassette A pull-up banner seen from the side: the graphic rises from an aluminium base, and inside the base the bottom of the print wraps around a spring-loaded roller. A strip of 20 to 50 millimetres below the finished height disappears onto that roller, which is why artwork should extend past the visible area. WHERE THE BOTTOM OF THE PRINT GOES visible graphic 20–50 mm wraps the roller Nothing of the design is hidden — IF the file extends below the finished height End the file at exactly 2000 mm and the white fixing tape shows above the base instead
The bottom 20–50 mm of the print wraps the roller inside the cassette. Extend the artwork below the finished height and the visible graphic stays complete; end it exactly at size and the fixing tape shows.

Why the grey-back material matters under exhibition lights

Also known as Pull Up Banners or Pop Up Stands, these are the ultimate portable display for exhibitions, trade shows and conferences, custom printed to your artwork. We are the emergency supplier for ExCeL London and Olympia, producing replacement banners for exhibitors who have been let down by other printers; for City conferences the drop is more often to a hotel or office near Liverpool Street than to a hall. We use a premium "Stay Flat" grey-back material that prevents the edges from curling under bright exhibition lights.

Each banner comes pre-fitted into a sturdy aluminium base with a swing-out foot for stability and includes a padded carry case. They are lightweight enough to carry on the Tube but large enough (850mm x 2000mm) to make a huge impact. We print and assemble these in-house 24/7.

A Mock-Up Is Not Artwork: Roller Banner Rescued and Delivered a Day Early

A rum brand ordered a roller banner and a PVC banner on a Thursday night, needing them by Saturday. Within the hour we flagged that one of the supplied files was a mock-up rather than print artwork - and the corrected job went out on the Friday, a day before the deadline.
